About Dr. Hurley...
Dr. Hurley was Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine in 1992 and recertified in 1999 and 2006. To maintain Board Certification physicians must complete 50 hours of continuing medical education credits each year as well take a day long exam on a broad range medical topics every seven years. Dr. Hurley scored in the 92nd percentile nationally on her last board examination.
Dr. Hurley obtained her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Denistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988 while being married and giving birth to the first 2 of her 3 children. She completed a 3 year residency in Family Medicine at Underwood Memorial Hospital in affiliation with Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 1992. She also has a Master''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s Degree in Counseling from Penn State University.
Dr. Hurley opened her own private practice in February 2005 in Woodstown, NJ where she has resided since 1993. Before going out on her own, she helped to start a hospital owned group practice in Mullica Hill and practiced there for almost 10 years. In 2004, she was voted "Best Doctor in Gloucester County".

Immunizations: There have been many additions recently to recommended vaccinations for adolesents and adults. These include new vaccines for prevention of whooping cough, chicken pox, cervical cancer, and Shingles.
Exercise: The CDC now recommends 30-60 minutes of moderately vigorous exercise most days of the week to maintain health. Many recent studies show that exercise promotes health and longevity, and reduces the risk of everything from cancer to Alzheimer''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s Disease.
Medical Home: Research shows that patients who have a "medical home" do better than patients who don''t. A medical home refers to a physician who knows you and oversees your medical care. Medicare may soon begin reimbursing doctors for providing theses important services.
Conferences and Meetings:
Dr. Hurley attended two conferences in Philadelphia on October 13th and 14th. The first was entitled "The Woman''''''''''''''''s Annual Health Exam" and reviewed the most up to date information about PAP tests, HPV, cancer screening, heart disease in women, PMS and PMDD among other topics. The second conference was sponsored by Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatric Academy, and was about the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. There are many exciting studies being done in these areas and we continue to better understand the biological basis of these disorders. Treatments include exercise, medications, and psychotherapy.
